I am Tom Chippendale.
Tattooist & illustrator based in the city of Coventry - England.
Graduate of Birmingham Institute of Art and Design with a degree in Visual Communication.
Professionally tattooing for 10+ years.
I make artwork in a western traditional tattoo style mixed with Romanticism & Art Nouveau using ink & watercolour or digitally. I experiment with 3D elements, moving parts and interactive illustrations as well as animation.
My main inspirations are traditional tattoos, Folklore, the Paranormal, Girmdark Fantasy, the Bijin-ga art movement, 18th-19th Century French illustration, Japanese Manga, Folk Magic, Vampires, the Old West and the ideas of Love, Death & Immortality.
I have created artwork for musicians in the Hardcore punk & Country scenes, Record Studios, Craftspeople and other visual artists.
In 2020 I created 'The Trad Painters Manifesto' a free tutorial guide on how I paint in the western traditional style. (PDF availaible in the info menu.)
